O prefeito do Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes informou recentemente que o festival voltará a ser realizado no ano de 2011.
“Vi a experiência do Rock in Rio em Madri e Lisboa, onde fizeram parques especialmente para o evento. Como a gente não teria condições de construir um local exclusivo para o festival aqui, a ideia é erguer um parque que será usado pelos atletas nas Olimpíadas. Já fica como legado dos Jogos”, disse o prefeito, segundo a página online do jornal O Dia.
Ainda segundo O Dia, Shakira, Radiohead, Miley Cyrus e Lady Gaga já figuram como candidatos a aparecer no festival.
